New Windsor Recreation Department Rules of Conduct
GENERAL
- The Recreation Department would like parents to stay with their children during games and practices; it is requested that your child is not left at a facility without parental supervision.
FIGHTING
- Any player, coach, spectator or official who engages in physical fighting in any Town of New Windsor sponsored program will be suspended indefinitely. The Town Supervisor may review this suspension after one (1) year.
FOUL LANGUAGE
- If a participant is overheard by an official, league coordinator or recreation staff member using foul language or use of any foul gesture(s) towards an individual - he/she will be suspended for two (2) games. If this behavior persists the player will be suspended for one year from the date of incident from all recreational programs and trips.
SPECTATORS, COACHES, OFFICIALS AND PLAYERS
- No verbal abuse or personal harassment will be tolerated. No verbal threatening will be tolerated, if verbal threatening occurs you will be asked to leave the facility and you will be suspended for up to one (1) year from the date of the incident from all programs and trips.
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT
- Anyone found removing Town of New Windsor owned or any School Board of Education owned equipment from any Town of New Windsor or any School Board of Education facility will be suspended from all programs and trips for one (1) year from date of incident.
- Defacing or alterations of uniforms may result in a one (1) year suspension from programs and sports. If you do not wear an issued uniform shirt in a game, you will not be permitted to participate in that game. FOR YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY - in soccer all players must wear shin guards. In basketball, soccer and baseball the boys must also wear an cup with athletic supporter or they will not be allowed to participate in that game.
PLAYER REGISTRATION
- If a player is found to be playing a Town of New Windsor sponsored program and is not registered, the player will be prohibited from playing the rest of that game and any remaining games. Registration will also be prohibited in any Town of New Windsor programs for one (1) year from date of incident and the team that he/she was playing with will forfeit the game. Alcohol and drugs will not be permitted in any of the New Windsor Recreation programs, parks or facilities. Persons violating this rule will be prohibited from registering in any Town of New Windsor sponsored programs.
REGISTRATION
- You are asked to visit the Recreation Department to register for all programs, activities and trips. Mail-in registrations will be accepted as long as forms and information are complete. Incomplete forms may result in returned registration forms. Registration over the telephone will not be accepted. We accept cash or check made out to the "Town of New Windsor". Proof of residency must be provided for all activities. Birth certificates must be provided for all activities that have an age restriction. All activities will age requirements follow the Town's birthday rule.
BIRTHDAY RULE
- If a birthday falls between the opening day of a program and the end of the season, the individual will play up one division.
ACTIVITY, PROGRAM, OR TRIP CANCELLATION
- All programs have limited registration. Please register early. Registration dates will be noted on flyers and on the web site. Town of New Windsor residents will have an opportunity to sign up before non-residents. Non-residents are charged an increased fee. Programs and trips will be held if there are sufficient amount of registrants. If a program is cancelled, the Recreation Department will notify you to come to the office and fill out a voucher. You will be mailed a refund check from the Town of New Windsor Comptroller's Office in approximately two weeks thereafter. No refunds will be given after 10 business days from registration unless the program is cancelled.
- If schools are closed due to a holiday, inclement weather or other reason all programs held in the City of Newburgh Enlarged School District will be cancelled. There will be messages left on the Recreation Department Voice Mail System after 4:30 P.M. concerning programs being held at the Stewart Airport Gym.
- Programs and activities are for registrants only, please do not allow you children to stay at practices or programs when they are not registered. Please be prompt when dropping off and picking up your children from the programs.
